SAET INDUCTION
Introduction
Welding is the process of joining two metals where the base material is elevated to a high temperature to exceed its melting point and in which, using its liquid state, are mixed to form a union of the fusion of all parties involved including a filler material if exists.
Emmedi, after 60 years in the HFI welding business, has pioneered this revolutionary SiC semiconductor technology in a family of HFI Welders installed since 2016.

MOSWELD SiC is the ultimate solid-state power supply using Silicon Carbide transistor technology, the highest overall energy efficiency in the market allowing a decrease in production costs and an increase in reliability.
The evolution is the use of SiC Silicon Carbide Mosfet semiconductor technology vs. the traditional Si Silicon Mosfet and IGBT semiconductors.
Semiconductors play the role of a sitch that allows HFI power supplies to output at high frequencies, specifically within the range of 150 – 500 kHz for API tube and pipe welding. The primary advantage is that the SiC semiconductor is significantly rated higher in voltage and current at the high-frequencies required for HFI welding. Just to put this fantastic advancement into perspective, a typical HFI welder utilizing the traditional Si technology semiconductors requires 64 devices for each 100 KW in output power rating.
The new SiC semiconductors accomplished the same 100 KW output with only 4 SiC Mosfet semiconductors.

Energy consumption in the induction tube welding process is one of the biggest costs in production. The current cost of electricity has worsened this situation for welded tube manufacturers.
How to reduce this cost? How to mitigate the drop in margins?
Emmedi’s SiC technology has made this possible by increasing the efficiency of the welding process, thus reducing electricity consumption. These parameters have been effectively measured on site by many customers who claimed energy savings of at least 30% (in case of valve equipment replacements).
The Mosweld SiC family offers very significant benefits by using silicon carbide and an architecture designed to maximise energy efficiency and line availability.
