Introduction

Yoke Shaft Annealing

Annealing is a heat treatment process used to increase material ductility and reduce hardness. Induction is used to heat the material above its recrystallization temperature for the required amount of time.

Yoke Shaft Annealing

Depending on the temperature and duration of the process, different ranges of hardness can be obtained in the material, allowing better adaptation to the specific requirements of subsequent machining operations.

In the case of these yoke shafts, case-hardened over their entire surface, it was necessary to reduce the hardness only of the two lobes.
The system presented heats the two lobes by induction, using a dedicated inductor. The temperature reached was defined in order to obtain the required hardness after the tempering process.
